BACKGROUND:
- Graduated from IUP in 1988 with a Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education
- Earned Master's Degree in Science Education from Clarion University in 1989
- Previously worked at both the Buhl and Carnegie Science Centers as a presenter and later as a Department Head for Professional Development; joined ASSET Inc. to help establish a National Science Foundation project that assisted elementary classroom teachers in science teaching by providing them with both training and materials
- Hired in 1999 as a Math/Science 6th grade teacher at Boyce Middle School; transferred to Fort Couch Middle School to teach 8th grade Science in 2000
- Professional certificates include Middle School Science and Elementary Education Certification
COURSE(S) TAUGHT: - Astronomy
(Earth/Space Science): The Earth and globe use, seasons, motion of
celestial bodies, the Moon, the planets, telescopes, stars and galaxies
- Introduction to
Chemistry (Properties of Matter): Density, states of matter, elements,
compounds and mixtures, atomic structure, the periodic table and
chemical reactions
- Forces, Motion, and Energy: Matter and forces in motion, work and machines, forces in fluids, energy and energy resources
