About Mrs. Kate Ruth

I was born and raised in Erie, PA. After graduating from Penn State University, I moved to Boston, MA. While there, I obtained a Master's Degree at Simmons College. I taught middle school and high school in Boston for seven years before moving to Pittsburgh. For my first two years in Pittsburgh, I worked as a Reading Specialist in downtown Pittsburgh. In the summer of 2013, I was given the opportunity to join the Fort Couch team - an opportunity I could not pass up!
I am passionate about teaching and creating an appreciation for and love of reading among my students. I work hard to help students learn reading strategies and skills that will help them in all of their classes and as lifelong learners.
When I am not teaching, I happily enjoy time with my husband and our two young sons. I also love to read and exercise, as well as spend time with friends and family.
