• PTA BYLAWS UPDATE

The Baker PTA Bylaws were last reviewed and updated in 2018 and must be reviewed and updated at least every five (5) years in order for Baker PTA to remain in good standing in Pennsylvania. According to Pennsylvania PTA rules, the Bylaws must be updated using the most current bylaws model from the state PTA.

Updated Bylaws (using the current PA bylaws model) are posted above. Please note the following proposed changes from the current Bylaws:

    Article VIII, Section 3

Currently reads: Term. Officers shall assume their official duties on June 1st and shall serve for a term of one (1) year, or until their successors are elected.

Proposed update: Term. Officers shall assume their official duties on July 1st and shall serve for a term of one (1) year, or until their successors are elected.

Rationale: To align officer terms with the PTA fiscal year that begins on July 1st.

    Article X, Section 3

Currently reads: The members of the executive board shall be:

    a.    elected officers

    b.    the principal or their representative and

    a.    elected officers,

    b.    the principal or their representative,

    c.    a Teacher representative, and

    c.    a Board Advisor, who served as President in the previous year.

Rationale: To ensure teaching staff representation and perspective in PTA matters and to align with current practice.
