NSTeens.org was created through a partnership between Sprint® and the Internet safety experts at NetSmartz® Workshop, a program of the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children® (NCMEC). NSTeens resources empower tweens (children ages 8 - 12) to make safer online choices through lessons taught in a series of animated videos highlighting the Internet-related adventures of a diverse cast of teenagers. The site also houses NetSmartz’s Real-Life Stories videos---a series of narratives from teens about real experiences of online victimization. These materials are suggested for youths ages 11-17. All resources on NSTeens.org are free and offered in both English and Spanish.
The educational philosophy of the Upper St. Clair School District Libraries is twofold: to foster an interest in books and reading that will grow and develop into a life-long enjoyable habit and to provide sequential library skill development that culminates in students growing in their ability to find, generate and apply information so that they will function effectively as individuals and participate fully in society.
The mission of the school media program is to ensure that all students and staff members are effective users of ideas and information and are provided with both traditional resources as well as new technologies. The goals of the library program, K-12, are accompanied by a curriculum that promotes a positive attitude towards learning, an appreciation of literature and provides materials of sufficient breadth and scope to allow each child to develop to his/her greatest potential.
The Upper St. Clair High School Library, which opened in September 1999, is centrally located in the academic wing, adjacent to the Library Computer Lab and Resource Center. The Library is approximately 12,500 square feet of beautiful, warm and functional space containing 20,000+ volumes, periodicals, access to online databases, printers, charging stations, SMART Desk techology help desk, and more!
