Prompts for Reading Strategies
1. Read it again - go back to the beginning and . . .
2. Get your mouth ready to make the first sound
3. Think about what looks right
4. Think about what sounds right
5. Think about what makes sense
6. Look for parts or chunks that you know
7. Think of another word or chunks that you know
8. Use the pictures
9. Read to the end of the sentence, then go back and think of a word that makes sense
10. If it doesn't sound right, go back and try it again
