About Mrs. StrauchEver since I was little, music has been a part of my life. This was probably the result of having a mother who is a music teacher! However, I didn't know until high school that I wanted it to be my career as well. Growing up in Wheeling, WV, we always saw Pittsburgh as our city too, since Wheeling is rather small. I have fond memories of going to Pirates games and shopping at several of the area malls.
I received my Bachelor of Music Education degree as a vocal major from the University of Dayton in Ohio, and my Masters in Music Education from Duquesne University . My first two years of teaching were spent at Weller Elementary in the Centerville City School District (just south of Dayton, OH). While in Dayton, I also conducted the two beginning choirs of the Kettering Children's Chorus (a regionally auditioned choir organization). I have been at Eisenhower since moving back to the area in the fall of 2006.
My husband, who also grew up in Wheeling, and I were married on July 9, 2005. Our family grew this past February when we welcomed our second child, Kate, into our family. It is wonderful watching her and her big sis, Emily, grow and learn! Our dog, Izzie, has dealt well with this change, and the girls absolutely adore her.
Other interesting facts:
- I have one older sister.
- I have two nieces and four nephews.
- My favorite color is blue.
- I have many favorite bands: Dave Matthews, The Who, Aerosmith, Coldplay, O.A.R. (just to name a few!)
- I love chocolate.
