Baker Elementary School

   Hi, I am Mrs. O'Korn. This is my 16th year at Baker Elementary but my 25th year teaching. I have taught first grade, second grade, third grade and two years as a Literacy Specialist. My true passion is in the classroom.
   Fifteen years ago, I moved here from Las Vegas, Nevada with my husband and children. I have three beautiful children, Abigail 17 1/2 years old, Grace 16 years old and Luke  12 1/2 years old. This year Luke will be in sixth grade, Grace a junior and Abby a senior 😥.  We also have 8 chickens and an Austrailan Shepard, Zeb.   I love to watch  my children play sports, cheer on Pittsburgh sports' teams, hang out with my husband, read, garden, camp and scrapbook.  A couple of years ago, I started experimenting decorating cakes with fondant.  It takes a long time but it is fun.  I still have A LOT to learn!

  
   I graduated from Eastern Washington University with a BA in Elementary Education and Reading. I obtained my Masters in Technology in Education from Lesley University.
This year your child will learn the second grade curriculum but also how to be responsible for his/her learning, how to be a problem solver, thinker and thoughtful reader.
