• Sixth Grade General Music

All students in 6th grade will have general music instruction as part of their "Expressive Arts," or "EA" rotation. Students will have EA three times per six-day rotation (usually Days 1, 3, and 5 or Days 2, 4, and 6) and will have General Music, Art, Library, and STEAM Design throughout the year, changing which EA they have every nine weeks.

Music in 6th grade will continue to focus on basic elements of music such as melody, harmony, rhythm, and tempo, and offer further instruction on vocal, instrumental, movement, and ensemble skills that started in 5th grade. Sixth grade offers the opportunity to further explore music technology, as well, through the use of various music technology websites, apps, and programs. Students will explore the process of composing, using notation software, adding accompaniment tracks to melodies, and exporting files from basic print and/or audio files to .mp3 and .mp4 files. Voice recording, editing skills such as automation tools, track panning, ducking, etc. will also be introduced to prepare students for their General Music classes at Ft. Couch.
