    Wellness Assessment

The most recent triennial wellness assessment was conducted on April 29, 2024.  The policy was reviewed by the Wellness Committee members.  The Wellness Committee was composed of each of the following: school board member, district administrator, district food service representative, student, parent/guardian, school health professional, physical education teacher, parent-teacher council member, and member of the public.

The Committee did not recommend any revisions or changes to the current policy.  Furthermore, the following exceptions to the current policy were noted during the review:

    • The policy states that students be offered age-appropriate physical activity opportunities. However, not all students are offered an opportunity for physical activity during the school day.  The Committee identified high school students as a group that may not have access to daily physical activity due to class schedules and physical education schedules. The high school administration will look to add opportunities during the school day for students to engage in physical activity.

    • The policy states that “District schools may implement alternative service models to increase school breakfast participation, such as breakfast in the classroom and breakfast after the first period.” Due to the time constraints in the morning at all schools, except at the high school, breakfast accessibility is limited.  The Food Service Department will work with administration to potentially offer more ways for students to access breakfast.

The Wellness Policy has been implemented district-wide with the two exceptions noted above.
