USC students perform in local production
Five Upper St. Clair High School students will take the stage in the upcoming production of “Urinetown, The Musical.” Produced by the Center for Theater Arts, the show runs Thursday, Feb. 10 through Saturday, Feb. 12, 2022, in the Mt. Lebanon High School theater. For information, call 412-563-4080.
A show that both celebrates and spoofs the best of Broadway traditions, Urinetown is a hilarious tale of greed, corruption, love, and revolution in a time when water is worth its weight in gold. In a future Gotham-like city, where private toilets are banned.
Thomas McQuillan plays Bobby Strong, the show's protagonist and romantic hero who starts the revolution; Luke McDonough and Colin Eccher play Caldwell B. Cladwell, the evil owner and controller of all public amenities, who gleefully exploits the poor; Bria Zegarelli plays Hope Cladwell, Cladwell's ravishingly beautiful daughter, torn between her love for her father and her love for Bobby; and Aly Childs plays Ms. Millennium, one of Cladwell’s evil workers who aspires for greater things. Together they round out a cast of more than 40 area students.
The Center for Theater Arts, located in Mt. Lebanon, offers more than 80 classes in the performing arts including singing, dancing, acting and more. The non-profit serves more than 500 children of all ages and abilities.
