Health & Safety Plan (approved Jan. 10, 2022)

March 1, 2022:  Email to All USC families

The Third Circuit Court of Appeals has dismissed the appeal and lifted the order that required the continuation of universal masking in our schools. Effective immediately, masking is optional for all students, staff and visitors in the Upper St. Clair School District, including on our school buses/vans. Additionally, the cafeterias for each of our six school buildings will resume normal seating this week.

We anticipate that some individuals will continue to wear masks, while others will not. Whatever choice individuals make, they will be supported by the District. The expectation is that all students and staff members will respect the masking decisions of others.

Families are encouraged to talk with their children regarding the transition to a mask-optional environment. Please understand that our teachers and staff members will not be enforcing masking preferences. If a student is not masked, it is assumed that it is his/her personal or family decision.

As always, should you have any concerns regarding your child, please reach out to your respective building principal, teacher, school nurse or school counselor.
