    Students host successful blood drive

Blood Drive The Upper St. Clair High School chapter of the National Honor Society recently hosted a blood drive that netted donations from 100 individuals including 92 students, three teachers and five parents. The Nov. 26 event was conducted in cooperation with Vitalant, formerly Central Blood Bank.

“The holidays are always a time when more donations are needed, because people become busy around this time of the year and blood donations drop between Thanksgiving and New Year’s,” Mrs. Carlino said. “The blood drive was very successful due to the student leadership of the NHS officers.”

Blood drives are held twice a year at the high school and are led by the National Honor Society sponsor, Mrs. Laura Carlino, and the student officers. This year’s NHS officers include seniors Vivek Babu, Anika Sinha, Emme Wetzel and Carly Abraham.

The next blood drive will be on Friday, March 6, 2020, at Upper St. Clair High School. Those who would like to donate can sign up at vitalant.org or email Mrs. Carlino at lcarlino@uscsd.k12.pa.us
