I have spent my entire life learning about and creating Art. After spending eight years as an Art Therapist, I was fortunate to gain employment with the Upper St Clair School District. It is true, "time flies when you're having fun" because the past twenty-three years have gone by in a heartbeat! Five years teaching at Eisenhower and seventeen years at the High School, where I taught Ceramics; 3D Art:Jewelry Making, Glass and Sculpture; Painting and Drawing, Art History; and International Baccalaureate Visual Art. I have brought all of that experience to Baker as your child's elementary art teacher. I am excited to revitalize our Elementary Art program and bring out each child's creative spirit. Students will be exploring various art processes through the use of two and three dimensional materials. Lessons will be organized in developmentally appropriate "Units", and will incorporate historical and cultural context that is linked to the common core .
As I continue to grow and develop as an educator and artist, I am fulfilling my dream of having my own jewelry line. SusaDesigns is the synthesis of my knowledge and personal aesthetics. I create personal adornments that incorporate silver or gold, along with precious and semi-precious stones.
I love coming to work each day and seeing what my students create, and when I go home I am inspired to create as well.
