    Four named to PMEA honors orchestra

    PMEA Honors Orchestra Four Upper St. Clair High School students were selected through competitive audition to participate in the 2017 Pennsylvania Music Educators Association District 1 Honors String Orchestra Festival. Musicians named to the honors orchestra include: 

    • Samuel Ding, grade 11 – Violin
    • Mallika Matharu, grade 11 – Cello
    • Jason Zhang, grade 9 – Violin
    • Veronica Zhang, grade 9 – Violin

    Students auditioned for the honors orchestra on Sept. 18, 2017, at Fox Chapel Area High School. Hundreds of students from Allegheny, Fayette, Greene, Washington and Westmorland counties participated in the audition process.

    The four USC orchestra students are among more than 100 high school musicians from Allegheny, Fayette, Greene, Washington and Westmorland counties who will be participating in the two-day experience Nov. 18-19 at Bethel Park High School.

    PMEA is a statewide nonprofit organization of more than 4,500 members, dedicated to promoting the musical development of all Pennsylvanians. The organization promotes and supports quality music education, learning and performance as well as promoting and supporting music education in schools and communities. PMEA is affiliated with The National Association for Music Education.
