All days are special in second grade, but we try to make birthdays even more special. Due to a variety of food allergies, we celebrating your child’s birthday in a new way. Instead of sending in an edible treat, we invite you to send in a non-edible treat for the class to share. This may be a book for the classroom library, a pack of non-permanent markers or other writing tools for the Writing Center. The gift to the class could be wrapped and be opened by the birthday child here at school. We are opened to suggestions and ideas. The important thing to remember is to keep the gift inexpensive.
We also would like to invite you to come into our classroom to read a book on your child’s birthday. Feel free to bring in one of your child’s favorite books or a book that you enjoyed reading as a child. We can schedule the read-aloud after lunch if you would like to enjoy a birthday lunch with your child. If you would like to celebrate your child’s birthday in this way, please let me know. We can set up a time that is convenient for you.
