Dear Students and Families,
Welcome to Boyce Middle School and Team Challenger! I am truly thrilled to be your ELA (English and Language Arts) teacher this year. I have been a teacher within the district since 2004 and have taught both Fourth Grade at Streams Elementary and Fifth Grade ELA at Boyce. Before joining the teaching staff at USC, I earned my Bachelor’s Degree from Penn State and my Master’s Degree from Pitt. I am also pursuing my MLIS (Master’s in Library and Information Sciences) because I truly love literature!
I live in Upper St. Clair with my husband, our two children, and our giant overly-friendly labradoodle named Teddy. My son, Luke, is eight years old and will begin third grade at Baker. My daughter, Cate, is six years old and is about to start kindergarten at Baker. I love spending time with my family, and you might find me and my children at the farmers’ market, pool, library, bike riding, or at our local parks and playgrounds. In addition to spending time with my family and teaching, I love to read, cook, and garden.
I am extremely passionate about education and ELA. I’m confident that my many years teaching Fourth Grade will help me make the Boyce transition a successful experience for my students.
All ELA homework assignments and grades will be posted on Canvas. I will help the students become familiar with how to use Canvas on their iPads, but as a parent, Canvas is a great tool for you as well!
Please don’t hesitate to contact me throughout the year, and I look forward to meeting you and getting to know you!
