Fifth grade mathletes shine in PML contest
Fifth grader Shiven Verma recently earned the top score among 80 Boyce Middle School students participating in the Pennsylvania Mathematics League competition.
The mathematics competition was open to all Upper St. Clair fifth graders and consisted of a 30-question test of non-routine problems.
Two students tied for second place – Marco Carone and Rachel Thomas. In a three-way tie for third place are Roshan Segall, Ben Leggat and Emily Wetterau.
Earning honorable mention are Jacob Artnak, Tanav Dandekar, Kate Falce, Matthew Fibbi, Leo Masse, Sreeja Meda, Luke Ralyea, Daniel Seewald, Lauren Teeney and Ananya Tripathi.
Boyce’s math contest is organized and administered by Kathy Hoedeman, math resource teacher, and Sue Fleckenstein, gifted coordinator.
