The National Honor Society is the nation's premier organization established to recognize outstanding high school students. More than just an honor roll, National Honor Society serves to honor those students who have demonstrated excellence in the areas of scholarship, leadership, service and character. These characteristics have been associated with membership in the organization since its beginning in 1921.

The Upper St. Clair Chapter selects members in the second semester of the students’ junior year, so that the members can provide services to the school during the members’ senior year. Juniors who have attained an unweighted grade point average of 3.5 or above have satisfied the requirement for scholarship and have the opportunity to apply for membership in National Honor Society. The process then requires candidates to articulate how they meet the criteria of leadership, service and character.

Science teacher Laura Carlino serves as the faculty advisor for the National Honor Society at Upper St. Clair High School. Officers for 2016-17 include Faley Bulazo, president; Amna Amin, vice president; Steven Yerina, secretary; and Alex Yerina, treasurer.
