    Long jumper crowned indoor state champion

    Senior Harvey Kane captured first place in the long jump at the 2017 Pennsylvania Track & Field Coaches Association Indoor State Championships on Saturday, Feb. 25, 2017, at Penn State University.

    With a mark of 23 feet and half an inch, Harvey became the first Upper St. Clair athlete to win an Indoor Track State Championship and the only USC long jumper to ever hit the 23 feet milestone.

    In addition, two runners logged personal records and finished near the top in the statewide competition. Junior Savannah Shaw finished ninth in the mile with a time of 5 minutes and 4.51 seconds. Sophomore Jane Madson finished 11th in the 200 meter dash and lowered her all time best to 25.27 seconds.
