    Two wrestlers qualify for PIAA championships
     
    Upper St. Clair High School senior Eli Grape is the WPIAL runner-up in the 195 lbs. weight classification. Sophomore Jake Slinger finished fourth in the 220 lbs. competition. Both wrestlers advance to the PIAA Championships March 8-11 in Hershey.

    Seven USC wrestlers advance to WPIAL championships

    Seven Upper St. Clair High School wrestlers finished in the top five at the WPIAL Class AAA Section 2 Championships – including two section champs, Eli Grape and Thomas Kyle. The section championships were held Feb. 25, 2017, at Connellsville Area Senior High School.

    The top five finishers in each section and weight classification advance to the WPIAL Class AAA Tournament. Also competing at the WPIALs will be Jake Slinger, who earned a third place finish; Tyler Curtiss, who came in fourth; and fifth place finishers Dan Kyle, Harvey Rauch and Grant Walnoha.

    The WPIAL Class 3A Individual Wrestling Championships are set for March 3-4 at Canon-McMillian High School. Twenty wrestlers compete at each weight level – the top four advance to the PIAA State Tournament, March 8-11 in Hershey.
