    Background:

    I graduated with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Journalism and a Bachelor of Arts Degree in History from Boston University. I received my Masters in Education from the George Washington University with a specialization in Secondary Social Studies Education. I began teaching in Upper St. Clair in 1999.

    Courses Taught:

    IB History of the Americas: a higher level IB diploma and certificate course offered to juniors. This course offers a comparative look at the Western hemispherical interactions from the colonial era through the modern era. It is the first year of a two-year course.

    IB 20th Century Topics: the continuation of the IB History of the Americas course offered to seniors at the higher level IB diploma and certificate level. This course covers the following 20th Century Topics at length: Causes, Practices and Effects of Warfare; Rise and Rule of Single Party States; and the Cold War. Exams for the two-year IB course are in May of the senior year.

    AP Economics: the complete AP Macroeconomics and Microeconomics courses offered to juniors and seniors. Students must enroll for both semesters: AP Macroeconomics in the fall and AP Microeconomics in the spring. Upon completion, students may sit for the AP Macroeconomics and AP Microeconomics in May.

    IB Economics: a standard level IB diploma elective course. Students will study Macroeconomics in the fall and Microeconomics in the spring in preparation for the IB exam in May. They will also complete an IB Internal Assessment Portfolio in the spring.
