The national award-winning Fort Couch Leadership Academy is a one-week summer experience, offering students exposure to leadership leadership concepts and practices. Through hands-on activities, group projects, and reflection opportunities, the students will learn about important leadership qualities and how these can be used to help them in their everyday lives.

Recently this year, the Upper St. Clair School District has been selected as a first place winner in the Magna Awards program sponsored by the National School Boards Association’s (NSBA) American School Board Journal (ASBJ). The Magna Awards recognize districts across the country for outstanding programs that advance student learning and encourage community magna involvement in schools. Upper St. Clair was one of fifteen schools to receive a first place award. ASBJ initiated the Magna Awards in 1995 to recognize school boards for taking bold and innovative steps to improve their educational programs. An independent panel of school board members, administrators, and other educators selected the winners from nearly 300 submissions.

This year's academy, open to any USCSD student entering into 7th or 8th grade in the 2013-2014 school year, will be held from July 22 through July 26, 8:30 am - 12:30 pm, at Fort Couch Middle School.  Applications will be available on this site on Thursday, April 25, and must be returned with payment by Friday, May 17.

Do not follow where the path may lead. Go instead where there is no path and leave a trail.
